Christian Distinctiveness
At Caldecote Church of England Academy all children attend a daily act of collective worship which includes hymns, prayers and a period of reflection. We have regular visitors from both of the village churches along with others from Biggleswade and Sandy.
On Mondays, collective worship is led alongside the Leading Lights team, to learn more about the value of the half term.
On Tuesdays, we learn songs to celebrate key points in the year and our Christian values.
On most Wednesdays, Open the Book come to share acted stories from the Bible.
On Thursdays, we focus on the value for the half term.
On Fridays, Reverend Lowden leads our worship.
Children may be withdrawn from this act of worship but we would ask that parents discuss the matter first with the Headteacher. Any withdrawals must be requested in writing.
What is our understanding of spirituality?
Spirituality is the nurturing and developing of relationships with self, others, the world and the sense of something bigger than ourselves. It enables us to embrace questions, doubts and wonders of existence.
A focus on spirituality enables our children to be happy, to flourish, to live and learn together and to live life in all its fullness. The ‘windows, mirrors, doors’ approach is a framework used to explore spirituality, particularly in educational settings. It uses the imagery of windows, mirrors and doors to represent different aspects of spiritual development.
Our value for Autumn 2, 2025 is Compassion. This links on from generosity in that we will be thinking about how the innkeeper showed compassion to Mary and Joseph when there was no room at the inn. We will also be looking at stories from the Bible, including The Good Samaritan and Jesus healing the leper.
We have launched the Caldecote CE Academy Challenge to support our understanding and development of courageous advocacy and service.
